High 5's with Jesse Burtner

Jesse Burtner

Age: less  (just kidding I'm 32)

Home Seattle Washington

Sponsors: Lib Tech, Airblaster, Spacecraft, The Summit At Snoqaulmie

HUS: You have been making some of the freshest videos for years now.  How do you keep it fresh every year?

JB: I keep it fresh by coming up with an idea that I really want to express, something new that I feel like will be interesting to explore through snowboarding.  It's all about the idea behind the direction of the movie for Think Thank.  Always forward, always new and never the easy choice.

HUS: Where is a place you have not yet been to, to shred?

JB: I've never been to Chile or New Zealand.  I wanted to be a pro snowboarder so I could travel the world snowboarding on someone else's dime. It never happened like that, so I just started sending myself on trips.

HUS: Without googling, what can you tell me about the U.S civil war?

JB: It was about slavery but also about States Rights versus a federal government.  It set in motion a lot of good things like the civil rights movement and possibly made America the super power she is, but also hurt a lot of people especially in the South where the economic sanctions the North imposed are still being felt today.  PS the states rights issue is still just as contentious.

HUS: What’s it like working with Geno?

JB: Working with Sean Genovese is epic.  He is like a solid rock of work ethic, creativity and moral integrity.  And he's just getting better on his board every year.

HUS: What’s the process for picking the music for the videos?  Is it something you and Sean do, or do the riders bring ideas?...(I have loved the music)

JB: Christina, Sean and I all pick the music.  If one of them finds a song they feed it to me and if I'm into it they go after the rights.  I'm already working on next year's soundtrack, it's a long sometimes painful process, but I get to find awesome new music all the time!

I would like to thank Jesse for taking time out of his hectic early season to give us some LOVE
